We had a pretty busy last few weeks, travelled to Edmonton to look at potential markets and came home with some orders and some very nice wood to work with. I built a mantle piece out of Hawthorne wood that was salvaged from the owner's front garden of their new condo and got some Russian olive wood that was destined for the land fill.
I built three matching benches, delivered the mantle and benches, and brought home about 375 board feet of salvage slabs recovered from Knights inlet BC where they had been holding up a float lodge since 1940. The wood has Teredo worm holes and is very cool. These slabs are supposed to become a patio dining table and four coffee table. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
I'm also doing some turning on the lathe with Russian olive and mystery wood salvaged from the dump. I am making Jack o lantern porch lights for halloween.
I went on Kijiji and posted my skull chair. I have recieved inquiries and will hopefully be building more soon. I guess my plate is pretty full and I had better get back to work.
